Enterocytozoon species

Bacteria in stool preparation tend to stain a light pink colour with the modified trichrome stain and could be misinterpreted as microsporidia species.

The size of the bacteria is in the same range as some of the species found in stool so experience in reading these preparation is a must when making a diagnosis of this infection.
