| Diphyllobothrium latum |
| The eggs are normally ovoid, with an inconspicuous operculum and a moderately thick shell. A knob is usually visible at the abopercular end and is evident in the wet preparation at right. The presence of an operculum may lead to confusion with the eggs of trematodes like Paragonimus westermani. The latter is always larger. |
