  • Growth rate: rapid
  • Texture: silky to coarsely fluffy, radial grooves
  • Thallus color: white
  • Reverse: deep yellow
  • Variants: slow growing, heaped and folded, yellow surface, no reverse pigment, macroconidia absent; reverts to typical colony on rice grains
  • long, rough, thick-walled macroconidia with asymmetrical knob on end
  • few pyriform microconidia, lateral
  • raquet hyphae, nodular bodies, and chlamydospores may be present
  • BCP: profuse, no change
  • Urease: positive
  • Hair perforation: positive
  • Rice: good growth, yellow pigment, conidia produced
